PHYSICS - FLUID MECHANICS
FLUIDICA - This hall in the
Museum of Science in Boston features some two dozen interactive exhibits
on the topic of fluid mechanics. Conceived and created by Shab Levy. |
WATER - Part of a larger
set of exhibits on "Earth Science", this hall shows a large wave tank on the
right of the photo and several smaller exhibits on wave phenomena in nature. Hong
Kong Museum of Science. Created by Levy Design. |
TORNADO - This tornado
demonstration machine generates a small tornado in the Earth's section of
the Hong Kong Museum of Science. Created by Levy Design. |
FLOW TANK - A special fluid containing
microscopic suspended particles flows around different objects to
visualize how the current is changed at different flow speeds. The
visitors can move the shapes with magnet holders from outside the
tank and can also change the speed of flow of the fluid. Liberty Science
Center, NJ. Created by Levy Design. Stereoscopic picture on the right. |
PUMPS - Three kinds of pumps allow
visitors to compare the advantages and disadvantages of Gear, Piston and
Diaphragm pumps. Liberty Science Center, NJ. Created by Levy Design.
Stereoscopic picture on the right. |

WHIRLPOOL - This
stereoscopic picture shows a large whirlpool exhibit where the visitor
controls the speed of flow and the size of the whirlpool. Science Museum
in Chile. Created by Levy Design. |
HEART PUMPS - These two functioning
production prototypes were engineering and produced at Levy Design for a commercial
outfit. The hand pump on the right pumps in one stroke the amount of
liquid that an average adult heart pumps, whereas the one on the left is
a mechanized version of the same. Those were done as educational
exhibits for demonstrating the rate and amount of blood that an average
adult heart pumps with every cycle. |
